La estructura del valle de Soulcem (Pirineos franceses): la terminación occidental de la Falla de Merens

Abstract

El principal objetivo de este estudio consiste en el análisis estructural de la prolongación occidental de la rama Norte de la Falla de Merens a su paso por el valle de Soulcem y su relación con las estructuras allí encontradas, con el fin de valorar el papel jugado por esta falla durante las deformaciones Varisca y Alpina. Para alcanzar este objetivo, se ha realizado un mapa geológico detallado, dos cortes geológicos y un análisis microestructural. A partir de estos estudios se han podido estudiar a todas las escalas la estratigrafía, las características de las rocas ígneas, la geometría de las fallas y de los pliegues así como su relación con las foliaciones tectónicas observadas.

The main objective of this study consists in: the structural analysis of the northern branch of the Merens fault, at the Soulcem’s valley and its relation with the rest of the structures found there. This will be done in order to assess the importance of the fault during the Variscan and Alpine deformations. To reach this purpose, a geological map and a cross-section were constructed, supporting them with a microstructural study of the area. Due to these, it was possible to study the stratigraphy, the igneous rocks, the geometry of the faults and folds, and their relation with the tectonic foliations observed.
