Byzance is an IoT (Internet of things) Startup located in the Czech Republic, they focus on providing solutions to a great variety of situations related with smart cities, smart homes and smart factories, their main objective is to make IoT available for everyone and in order to accomplish this mission, they have developed many different hardware devices for very specific applications. Their main product is called IODA. IODA is a small device equipped with Digital I/O pins, Analog-Digital converter, Digital-Analog converter, PWM capabilities and able to communicate with other devices using many different protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN). Even though there are many similar devices in the market, IODA offers the possibility to be programmed and updated over the air, this makes possible to use any web browser to program one or more devices easily and also to monitor their status. IODA board can be also used with shields, small devices that expand the capabilities of the board by adding sensors or actuators, this means a great flexibility since any new function can be added to the board with just a few new components. Before this project it was possible to connect only one shield at a time. This project is divided in three steps, the first one is to create 2 new hardware devices to use with the IODA board, one device will allow up to 6 different shields connected at the same time with IODA and the other device will be a multipurpose board that will add many different new modules to IODA, like more digital pins, motor driver, buzzer, battery charger among others. The second step consists in developing a small portable model that will show both the capabilities of IODA and those of the new devices developed in the first step. And the third step is to design a web application using the tools available in Byzance’s portal, this web app will allow to monitor and control the model developed in the second step using only the web browser. The main objective of the project is to produce new devices that can be used in many different future projects of the company and to provide the sales team with a tool for presenting the products to potential clients. This project involves researching about proper PCB design, some analysis of the role of IoT in smart cities and Enterprise 4.0, step by step description of the process of creating the new hardware, development of new C++ libraries to control the small model and development and configuration of the web application.spa
